Analysis Of Key Performance Parameters Of Compression Testing Machines

Understanding equipment parameters is crucial for assessing its capabilities and matching requirements. Below are some core parameters and their significance.

1. Innovative Test Force: The innovative axial pressure that the equipment can apply, usually expressed in kilonewtons or tons. This is the primary parameter for classifying the equipment's range. When selecting, it should ensure that it exceeds the innovative destructive force that the test sample may withstand, with an appropriate margin (e.g., 20%-30%), but it should not be too large to avoid affecting the relative accuracy when testing at small force values.

2. Test Force Measurement Range and Accuracy: The equipment does not only operate at the innovative force value point. A single machine typically has multiple ranges (e.g., 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 100%FS). Accuracy includes the relative error of the indication and the relative error of repeatability, which are core indicators for measuring the accuracy and stability of the equipment's measurements. High-precision testing (such as scientific research and metrology) requires even higher accuracy levels.

3. Displacement Measurement System and Accuracy: Used to measure the distance the indenter moves or the amount of deformation of the sample. Photoelectric encoders or external extensometers are typically used. Accuracy directly affects the measurement results of parameters such as elastic modulus. For brittle materials or tests involving minute deformation, a high-precision extensometer may be required.

4. Speed Control Range and Accuracy: This refers to the controllable range of speed at which the beam moves or force is applied. Compression test standards typically specify constant stress rate, constant strain rate, or constant displacement rate. The equipment should be able to accurately and smoothly control the speed within the required range; this is a prerequisite for obtaining comparable test data.

5. Test Space: This refers to the effective space between the upper and lower pressure plates or clamps, including width, height, and depth. It determines the innovative dimensions of the test specimens. For users who need to install environmental chambers (high and low temperature chambers) for testing under temperature conditions, sufficient space should be reserved for various parameters.

6. Control and Data Processing Functions: One of the core functions of a modern testing machine. The software should be able to switch between multiple control modes, edit complex test programs, display real-time curves, automatically calculate various mechanical property parameters (such as compressive strength, compressive modulus, specified non-proportional compressive stress, etc.), and generate standardized test reports.
