This mechanical concrete rebound hammer is a non-destructive testing instrument, widely used for rapid in-situ detection of compressive strength of hardened concrete structures. Working Principle

 

The tester operates based on the elastic rebound theory of materials:

1. Inside the instrument, a standard tension spring drives a steel impact plunger to strike the concrete surface with fixed kinetic energy.

2. Part of the impact energy is absorbed by plastic deformation of concrete; the remaining energy bounces the plunger backward.

3. The sliding pointer records the maximum rebound distance on the graduated scale. Harder concrete generates a higher rebound value, while low-strength concrete produces a lower reading.

4. Operators convert rebound readings to corresponding concrete compressive strength (MPa) using the built-in conversion curve printed on the hammer body, to evaluate structural concrete quality quickly.
